About Dr. Pokorny

Board Certified Adult Psychiatrist

I grew up in Iowa where I learned foundational Midwestern values of compassion, humility, work ethic, and the value of shared community. I pursued high education in Iowa where I earned my undergraduate degree from Drake University and earned my medical degree at the University of Iowa. While studying medicine I discovered a growing interest in mental health and illness and chose to pursue a career in psychiatry. After graduation I moved to Texas to support my husband who was stationed in San Antonio for the US Army and to pursue speciality training in psychiatry and mental health at UT Health San Antonio. In residency I was recognized for my compassionate, skilled care by being awarded Top Resident of the Year during my third year and I served as a Chief Resident during my fourth and final year of training.

I have worked and trained in diverse psychiatric settings including inpatient psychiatric units, hospital consults, college mental health, specialty outpatient clinics, and have worked with many military members and veterans. I’ve pursued additional training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy and find these therapies helpful in working with a myriad of mental health issues. The field of psychiatry continues to grow; I’m continuing to learn and incorporate new treatments into my practice. I’m currently completing additional training in integrative psychiatry through the Integrative Psychiatry Institute.

I reside in Colorado and work with patients living in Colorado in my private practice to provide high-quality, comprehensive, and personalized mental health care.
